Cookie policy
This policy explains what cookies Cathedral Safety Services Ltd uses on this website, why we use them, and how you can decide for yourself. We keep it short and plain, because working out what a website does with cookies should not take a law degree.

The short version
- Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Ours do two jobs.
- A few are essential and keep the site working. These are always on.
- The rest just help us count visitors, and they only run if you agree.
- You can change your mind whenever you like, using the cookie settings link in the footer.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website puts on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit. It lets the site remember things between pages, or between visits, such as whether you have already agreed to analytics.
Some things that behave like cookies are not technically cookies, for example small pieces of data stored by your browser. We treat all of them the same way in this policy and refer to them as cookies for simplicity.
2. How we use them
We keep our use of cookies deliberately light. We use them for two reasons only.
- To keep the website working. A small number of essential cookies are needed for the site to load properly and to remember your cookie choice. Without these the site would not function, so they cannot be switched off.
- To understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies tell us how many people visit, which pages are helpful and where visitors come from. We look at this as anonymous, grouped figures, never to identify you. These only run if you agree.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to track you across other websites through this site.
3. The cookies we use
Essential cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Cookie consent | Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again on every page. | Up to 12 months |
| Session | Keeps the website working correctly while you move around it. | Until you close your browser |
| Security | Helps protect forms and the site against misuse. | Session to 12 months |
Analytics cookies (only set with your consent)
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells apart one visitor from another so we can count visits. | Up to 24 months |
| _ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of a visit while it is happening. | Up to 24 months |
Exact names and durations can change when a supplier updates their service. We review this table regularly and keep it as accurate as we can.
4. Your choices
When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you are happy for us to use analytics cookies. Nothing beyond the essential cookies is set until you choose.
You can change your decision at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Turning analytics off stops those cookies being used from that point on.
5. Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set it to warn you before accepting new ones. Every browser is a little different, so the guides below help.
One thing to bear in mind: if you block all cookies, including the essential ones, some parts of the website may not work as they should.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is no agreed standard yet for how websites should respond to it, so we do not currently act on it. We keep this under review, and in the meantime our cookie banner gives you a clear and reliable way to decide.
7. How this fits with our Privacy Policy
This policy is about cookies specifically. For the fuller picture of what we do with personal information, including analytics data once it reaches us, please read our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever our use of cookies changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, so it is worth a quick look if you want to be sure you are seeing the current version.
9. Getting in touch
If you have any questions about how we use cookies, please get in touch. We are happy to explain.
