Safety Culture Checklist

Your safety culture is not simply about whether you have the right policies and procedures in place. It shows up in what leaders prioritise when pressure builds, how people behave when nobody is watching, and whether anyone feels able to speak up.

This checklist works through twenty one questions across the seven areas that shape culture: management commitment, communication, employee involvement, training and information, motivation, compliance with procedures, and learning. Each one has space to record what you found and what you might improve.

It is built to be used out where the work happens. Talk to people at different levels, ask the questions, and compare what you hear with what managers believe happens. It is designed to prompt honest conversation rather than produce a score.
